Globe Life Donates $31,185.13 to Join The Fight In Curing Childhood Cancer

Globe Life is proud to announce a donation of $31,185.13 was presented to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALFS), an organization that works to help cure childhood cancer. An ambassador family from Frisco accepted the check on behalf of Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Their daughter Avery is a cancer fighter and a recipient of ALFS support.

“Just a little about us. My name is Charlene, my husband is Robert. We have two kiddos, Luke (6) and Avery (4). Both of them are our fighters, our heroes, and our crazy kids! Avery is our Retinoblastoma warrior. Luke is her super sibling that helps her along the way.

Avery was diagnosed at 21 months old with Bilateral Retinoblastoma, which is surprisingly on the older end of diagnosis for retinoblastoma.  Retinoblastoma is a rapidly growing cancer in her eyes, specifically her retinas. Retinoblastoma is very rare; It makes up 2% of all childhood cancers, only 200 - 300 cases are diagnosed in the U.S. per year. When she was diagnosed, her entire left eye was a tumor, therefore leaving her blind in that one eye. Her right eye had 4 smaller tumors. At 2 years old, Avery had her left eye removed and now has a prosthesis in its place. We are still fighting the right eye, as there is one small tumor that keeps coming back. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation helped pay for transportation, food and lodging when we were in Philadelphia for Avery’s treatment on three separate occasions. Thank you Globe Life for your generosity.”
