Where will the 2020 Baseball Season-End Games be?

The 2020 baseball post-season is here, and Globe Life Field will play a major part. What makes Globe Life Field different than any other ballpark is the fan-tailored experience, both before and during the game. Learn more about this brand new ballpark.

Inside and out, Globe Life Field is changing Texas’ baseball game experience.

Located in Arlington, Texas, the sport’s newest ballpark Globe Life Field will host professional baseball’s biggest show!

Breaking ground in 2017, Globe Life Field costs around $1.2 billion, making it one of the most expensive state-of-the-art ballpark ever built.

A True Texas Ballpark Experience

No one knows the scorching heat better than Texas baseball fans – the Texas Rangers have played the most games at 90 degrees or hotter since 19942. While Globe Life Field retains some aspects that honor the retro-era ballpark, architect company HKS designed the prominent retractable roof with Texas baseball fans in mind because it can let in the sun or close to cool down the field. It is the largest single-panel operable roof in the world and weighs 24 million pounds.

In an interview with Baseball America, architect Fred Ortiz revealed his vision for Globe Life Field; “One of the main drivers from the very beginning was trying to establish this backyard feel of security and a wonderful family experience.”1

From the moment you arrive, the field is viewable even behind 171,000 square feet of glass windows. From the main plaza entrance, you can get a full view of Texas Live!, a dining and entertainment complex connected to Globe Life Field.

When you smell the hot dogs and popcorn, you’re officially immersed in the two-level 360-degree concourse that allows you to stay connected to the baseball field at all times.

What makes Globe Life Field different than any other ballpark is the fan-tailored experience, both before and during the game. To kick off your food frenzy, take a tour of the 100 concession stands, 20 bars, and 11 kitchens you have to choose from – don’t forget the peanuts and Cracker Jacks!

Grab an ice cold beer at the Sky Porch, a fully stocked bar and observation deck complete with rocking chairs (a Southern classic).

Premier Front Row Seating

Prefer to see the action up close? Globe Life Field has the closest suites to home plate in the league. 1 You can grab a seat in the Dugout Club behind third and first base, or check out the suite life behind home plate – from either spot, you’ll still be able to feel the boom of the fireworks!

Social fans can cheer from the club dining found along the field wall – you’re close enough to catch a foul ball yet still feet away from a beer refill.

Out of the 40,300 seats in Globe Life Field, there isn’t a bad seat in the house! The facility was designed to bring fans “closer to the action” from every seat.

Seats in all levels at Globe Life Field measure at least 19 inches in width as compared to 18 inches in Globe Life Park. The tread widths of the seating bowl are also wider than at the old park, measuring 34 inches in the lower bowl and 33 inches in the upper deck.2

A Field of Honor

Globe Life Field and the Texas Rangers wanted to pay tribute to some of the greatest players of all time in the new ballpark, so they did.

  • The dimension from home plate to the backside is 42 feet to honor Jackie Robinson
  • The left field line is 329 feet for Adrian Beltre’s number 29
  • Center field (straightaway) is 407 feet for Pudge Rodriguez number 7
  • Left or right of center field are 410 feet for Michael Young’s number 10
  • Right field line is 326 feet for Johnny Oates’ number 26

Everything really is bigger in Texas. Globe Life Field will also be used for large events like stadium-size concerts. The field is complete with a hydraulic pitching mound that can convert the synthetic turf into a concert ground.

Inside and out, Globe Life Field is changing Texas’ baseball game experience. Rob Matwick, the Rangers Executive Vice President of Business Operations explains, “Globe Life Park has elements of other ballparks … but we have reached a different stage in our history in that this building will be unique to the Rangers and represent the Rangers going forward.”1

While 2020 may bring a virtual game day experience, fans can still stay connected to Globe Life Field by listening for the crack of a bat, the thump of a glove, or Chuck Morgan’s famous opener: “It’s baseball time in Texas!”
