American Income Life Donates To Fight Childhood Hunger

Donations will support school backpack program

American Income Life Insurance Company, with headquarters in Waco, TX, in partnership with the Scott Rehberg SGA office, donated $5,000 to Manna Worldwide as part of the Company's Closer to the Heart program of charitable giving. Manna Worldwide is a partner in the Lebanon Warrior Backpack program.

AIL State General Agent Scott Rehberg explained that Manna Worldwide was chosen because of the Warrior Backpack program, "which helps children suffering from chronic hunger in Lebanon city schools." Rehberg presented the donation to Lee Pennekamp, a local banker and founder of the Lebanon Warrior Backpack program.

Manna Worldwide is a faith-based organization founded to care for impoverished children around the world. The Lebanon Warrior Backpack program is funded entirely by Manna Worldwide, area businesses and churches and other donations. The program provides a backpack containing six nutritious meals each weekend for students K-6th grade identified by teachers as showing signs of chronic hunger. According to Pennekamp, $100 will feed one child six meals every weekend for 30 weeks.
