Funds will help sponsor Nassau County PAL Special Olympics
NEW YORK, Feb. 2, 2016 -- National Income Life Insurance Company (NILICO), in partnership with the Theodore Pappas SGA Office, donated $5,000 to the Nassau County Police Activity League (NCPAL) as part of the Company's Closer to the Heart program of charitable giving. The funds are designated to help fund the NCPAL Special Olympics, a cause close to Pappas' heart because he has an older brother with mental and physical challenges.
State General Agent Theo Pappas presented the donation to NCPAL President Frank DiVittorio. "Programs like the one we are supporting for the Nassau County PAL really helped my brother while he was growing up. Allowing children that have physical and mental disabilities to compete and experience the joy of competition and a team brings all the joy in the world to these kids. We are so honored and happy to be supporting such a great cause in our community," Pappas said.
NCPAL was formed in 1940 as the Nassau County Police Boys Club. They operate youth clubs and provide sports, crafts, educational and other programs of a team and individual nature for all boys and girls in Nassau County, N.Y. regardless of race, religion, income or disability. The intent of the activities is to prevent juvenile delinquency, steer children clear from gang activity and to aid in the positive interaction of Police Officers and Youth. Their motto is, "It is better to build youth than mend adults."
