Globe Life and Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation Present $10,000 Grant to RBI Austin

The presentation took place during the Rangers caravan luncheon with its Triple-A affiliate the Round Rock Express at Dell Diamond on Thursday, January 15th. The funds will be used towards starting a new Jr. RBI program in the Dove Springs area. This will be the second grant presented by the Rangers Foundation to RBI Austin, which continues to grow the program in the Greater Austin Area.

The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation instituted the Grant Program in 2012 as another means to promote the growth and development of youth baseball and softball. As part of its partnership with the Rangers, Globe Life is making a substantial commitment to support youth baseball and softball programs in the Rangers’ five-state territory by joining with the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation in the grant partnership program.

Globe Life’s Vice President of Marketing Corey A. Jones, Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation Executive Director Karin Morris, and the Rangers caravan participants, manager Jeff Banister, bench coach Steve Buechele, shortstop Elvis Andrus, catcher Robinson Chirinos, pitcher Derek Holland, and radio announcer Matt Hicks were on hand for Thursday’s presentation. “Life insurance is a selfless gift,” Jones said, “and our customers are selfless providers for their families. They inspire us as a company to put the needs of others first. That’s why we are honored to be a part of the Globe Life Texas Rangers Grant Program. It gives us a chance to give back and practice that same selflessness.”

Twelve grants were awarded and announced in September 2014. The checks for those grants are being presented at various stops on the Rangers’ 2015 Winter Caravan.

Organizations were asked to complete a proposal describing how funding from the grant would allow them to give youth in their area the opportunity to play either baseball or softball. The winners were selected based on need and the ability of the proposed program to improve baseball programs in their local areas. FOX Sports Southwest helped to promote the grant program throughout the Rangers entire television territory.
